Certificate - Foundations for Pastoral Ministry The 'Certificate - Foundations for Pastoral Ministry' is designed to provide introductory education in the foundational areas of Catholic faith and basic skills for pastoral ministry. It is designed for those involved in ministry in their parish or for those seeking to learn more about the foundations of their faith to assist them in their Christian mission. It is particularly suited for those seeking Pastoral Associate Grade 1 accreditation or preparing for pastoral work. The Certificate comprises 8 units [12 hours each] of introductory education in Catholic faith and life covering: scripture; foundations of Christian faith; pastoral and moral theology and the sacramental life of the Church. Two units [24 hours each] are offered, one in Christian leadership and one in group skills. The Certificate is completed by undertaking a further 24 hours in elective units in areas of interest to the student. Total number of contact hours is 168. Selected readings and projects will enhance the learning experience, some assessment will be required. Students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of contact hours in each unit. It is expected that students would ordinarily complete the Certificate in 2 years.
