STAND UP day 2006

The atmosphere was thick with excitement. STAND UP day was finally here. Our students had spent many hours talking about and organising the event. The local media interviewed our students and many people from our community arrived.
Our whole school gathered together. Our students wore t/shirts that they had decorated for the event. The song, We Are The World played as symbols of the MDG were presented. Father Frank asked our community to STAND UP while the year 7/8 students read the pledge. Father Frank blessed us and prayed for people living in poverty, for the leaders of the world to be accountable and for us to always remember and do our part for all people. Members of our local council and state government joined us in STANDING UP against world poverty. Children ran a mini marathon and had a sausage sizzle to raise awareness and money for the missions.
