The parish of St. Mary's Williamstown welcomed the Messgae Stick with a traditional Smoking Ceremony performed by Alan Browning, (with the permission of Wurrundjeri Elders) before the 6.30pm Mass on Saturday 13th May 2006. Students preparing for their confirmation were invited to walk through the smoke in an ceremony of purification, before proceeding into the Church for Mass. Fr Noel Oliver and Sister Helen processed the Message Stick into the church. A special post-Communion reflection by Sr Joan explained the significance of the Meassge Stick in light of Pope John Paul II's call for Reconciliaition.
