Project Requirements

All capital works projects in excess of $ 50,000 require approval from His Grace, the Archbishop. The DBMAS are to be notified in writing stating the scope of works, source of funding and the estimate project amount. The Planning, Building & Finance Committe, Project Approval Request Form is to be completed and sent to DBMAS as part of the Archbishop Approval process (see Relevant Documents). A building advisor is appointed to each project to assist and provide advice for its duration.

The guidelines for the development and implementation of capital work projects are detailed in the DBMAS Project Requirements 2005. This document sets out the procedures and protocols required for all capital works projects. See Relevant Documents.

For all capital works projects, the contract to be used shall be the Roman Catholic Trusts Corporation for the Diocese of Melbourne, Building Works Agreement (based on AS 4000-1997) prepared by Corrs Chambers Westgarth Lawyers. Upon selecting and engaging a building designer, all schools and parishes are required to enter into the RCTC Building Design Services Agreement (BDSA) with their selected building designer. Available from DBMAS. See Relevant Documents.
